Over the weekend of Saturday 30th June and Sunday 1st July several Kilmington gardens and the allotments welcomed visitors both local and from further afield. The weather played a part (when does it not?) and Saturday afternoon was extremely hot which surely deterred some people. Everyone had been wanting rain for the gardens for weeks, but what a shame it decided to arrive in torrents ten minutes before we opened on Sunday and lasting for 1½ hours! In spite of these setbacks visitors enjoyed their afternoons in the village and £433.50 before costs was raised from ticket and plant sales for Devon Air Ambulance Trust and almost £200 by St. Giles’ Church for cream teas/cake sales. Thank you to all who visited, the Tea Ladies and the garden openers for their hard work.
